How do you clean the hard-floors in your house? Do you prepare your own cleaning solutions or you buy expensive commercial cleaners from the supermarket? Do you want to learn a few green cleaning ideas for floors? Read on then.
Most people buy floor cleaning detergents from the supermarket. These products really do a great job, but most of them contain chemicals and pollute the air you breath with toxic fumes. That is why most providers of deep cleaning services in London don’t recommend the use of such cleaners, and advise to prepare your own cleaning solutions.
Here are a few green cleaning ideas for floors:
The easiest way to clean a floor is with tea. Prepare a few cups of herbal, mint or chamomile tea, leave them to cool down and soak your mop in them. Wipe the floors with it and they will become as clean and shiny as new.
If you want to make a more exotic cleaner, this is your recipe – mix four cups white vinegar with four cups hot water, and add ten drops bergamot essential oil and ten drops sweet orange essential oil to the mixture. Mind that when you clean the floor with this solution, you have to mop over with a dry cloth, afterwards. As professional cleaner in London, I also advise you not to overwet the floor.
The next recipe is for dirtier floors with hard stains on them (have that in mind when using it) – pour about 3 litres hot water in a bucket. Add twenty drops tea tree essential oil, two cups vinegar, and ¾ cups liquid castile soap. Stir the mixture, so that the ingredients dissolve in the water. Use a mop to apply the solution, rubbing hard to remove the dirt and stains. It will be best if you work on one small area at a time. If you want you can wipe over with a damp mop when you finish cleaning, but it is not necessary.
Green cleaning is not only useful and safe, but it can also be fun. All this mixing of ingredients reminds a little bit of cooking or alchemy, and I personally love it. Try it and you want regret it.
